Sense And Sensibility..the verdict

Over the last few months, yes months, we have been reading Sense & Sensibility. It took a while to get into it and figure out the characters, but once we had the plot grasped we read it as often as we could. We read it after breakfast, after dinner, in the car on the way to Ballet or where ever we could.
Finally, we finished it and we were treated to the movie.  We sat down with a treat and the fire blazing keeping us warm. It was fantastic to watch the movie........

BUT....We weren't  really impressed with the version we purchased. In this version Margaret was younger, Willoughby's big confession was not highlighted, Miss Steele did not stay with The Miss Dashwoods, we did feel Fanny was well casted as was Marianne.
Now we need to make a decision, what shall we read next????? It has been suggested we read Persuasion ....

Well done sweetheart

Just recently we took Louise out to celebrate her completion of her University studies. She is now officially a teacher of Pre- Yr 6. She is a very passionate and enthusiastic teacher and her last placement was at a school that seemed to lean toward natural learning and strewing.. She loved this concept...even when I suggested that many homeschoolers do exactly this...
We arranged to go out to a lovely restautant in Newcastle Harbour, but I wanted to really make the night special......So I organised a hire car...no that is not enough...A stretch Limousine is what I wanted for our Louise...
So I put my case forward to Dermot. What could he say, !!!!
Louise lives closeby, so I asked Stephen our Limo driver to pick her up first..Her boyfriend was aware of the goings on....and was delighted to be involved in out little surprise..
Stephen knocked at the door and a very surprised Louise answered the door and was escorted to the Limousine....We were next to be picked up, and then off to the restaurant to meet up with the rest of the family..
Louise was very excited and grateful. Its been a very hard slog for Louise. Several difficult family events have marred her studies. I know that she nearly threw in the towel several times, but with lots encouragement and perserverence, she got up and kept going.
We are so very proud of her. You see Louise didn't complete her Higher School Certificate, she left her traineeship as a Chef to go to Uni for 4 years to qualify as a teacher. She needed to gain entry to Uni, so she undertook their entry course for under 21s . New Step- A pilot program at the time- Now a very successful program intergrating students to Uni study & life..

It was a beautiful meal, lots of champagne and interesting menu choices- Lots of fun conversation...Lots of laughter and a speech for our Louise...
Tonight we celebrated......Here are a just a few shots we put together to celebrate..Here's to Louise....
